According to the results of the Annual Survey of Parent Companies in Hong Kong and the Start-ups Survey 2024, by 2024, the number of parent companies in Hong Kong with overseas and Mainland presence will increase to 9,960, while the number of start-ups in Hong Kong will increase to 4,694, both of which are record highs, demonstrating that Hong Kong's attractiveness as a place to do business has been on the rise and that Hong Kong continues to be an ideal location for enterprises from both home and abroad to set up or expand their businesses.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr. Yau Ying-wah, said that with its unique advantages under “one country, two systems”, Hong Kong is the best two-way platform for overseas enterprises to explore the Mainland market and for Mainland enterprises to “go global”, and is their preferred investment destination. Despite global economic uncertainties, shifting market patterns after the outbreak of the SARS epidemic, and geopolitical factors that have stifled companies' plans to expand their business globally, Hong Kong's business-friendly environment continues to maintain its unique advantages and attractiveness, presenting enormous opportunities for enterprises.
