Guangdong and Hong Kong enterprises signed 126 economic and trade cooperation projects

The Hong Kong/Guangdong Deepening Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Exchange Conference was held on November 25 in Guangzhou. At the Exchange Session, Guangdong and Hong Kong enterprises signed 126 economic and trade cooperation projects with a total value of more than RMB 100 billion, covering a wide range of areas such as commerce, trade and investment, financial cooperation, modern logistics, innovation and technology, green development, low-altitude economy, culture, tourism and sports.
Chan Kwok-kei, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government, said Hong Kong is one of the freest economies in the world, ranked No. 1 in the global investment environment, and No. 1 in the world in terms of international air cargo volume. In the latest Global Financial Centers Index report, Hong Kong rose to third place in the world and first in the Asia-Pacific region. At present, the number of Mainland enterprises in Hong Kong exceeds 2,100, and more than 1,400 Mainland enterprises have been listed in Hong Kong.
At present, Guangdong is insisting on the manufacturing industry as the leader and vigorously developing the real economy. At present, Guangdong has eight trillion-dollar industrial clusters, more than 70,000 industrial enterprises on a regular basis, more than 76,000 high-tech enterprises, and 70% of the world's consumer drones, 40% of smartphones, one-quarter of the country's new energy vehicles and one-fifth of integrated circuits all come from Guangdong. Guangdong is capitalizing on its mega-market and population advantages to expand domestic demand, and is looking forward to joining hands with Hong Kong to build an international consumption hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and share the mega-market.
Peng Zhenke, Pfizer's global senior vice president and president of China, said Pfizer has conducted nearly 100 clinical trials in Guangdong since 2022, 26 of which are underway. Through the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Drug and Device Access Policy, two of Pfizer's products were able to be introduced and benefit patients in the Greater Bay Area. “In the future, we expect that more medicines can be introduced from Hong Kong.”
Mr. Wang Dongsheng, Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, said, “The Greater Bay Area brings together the talent, capital, market and policy support needed for innovation, with a first-class business environment. HSBC is optimistic about the development prospects of the Greater Bay Area and will not only continue to invest in the Greater Bay Area itself, but will also continue to guide and assist international investors to enter the Greater Bay Area and contribute to its prosperity.”
The exchange was organized by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). After the meeting, high-level delegations from the HKSAR Government and the business sector will visit the cities of Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou and Shenzhen.
